After talking with the ER doctor we opted to wait for our local plastic surgeon to come and stitch him up, especially since the cut was right at the vermillion border. So we waited and watched cartoons for about 2 hours until he arrived. When he did, he was excellent. He was so good with Preston and did such a great job of suturing. In total he probably placed around 30 stitches most being on the inside and a few on the outside.
So of course the next day (today) was Preston's big graduation day, and he was not about to miss it for anything. He did great and loved it. He was a little nervous though and said something that tugged on my heart strings. He said, "Dad, I hope nobody makes fun of me." Upon arrival to the classroom he was relieved when not only did they not make fun of him, but they were very worried about him and all wanted to make sure he was OK. It was a relief for both of us.
After graduation today is when I put the splint on his teeth that you can see in the first picture. He did so great. He fell asleep as we were doing it. Yes, he may lose those teeth in the future but they are all baby teeth, thankfully. I am so proud of him for being so great about the whole thing. Let's hope he doesn't follow in his dad's footsteps or this is the first of many trips to the ER!

Ooooh Preston, we're so sorry about your lip!! You look like a trooper and you'll always have a really awesome story about Kindergarten graduation!
Whew. I'm so glad to hear you got a plastic surgeon because I was really worried about the vermillion border! ;) haha. what the heck is that?
Actually, I wish I would have had a plastic surgeon not a PA when Audrey had her stitches...I just had no idea it was very bad. Rats.
I'm glad you had a good one.
My poor Preston. I wanted to cry when you called to tell me. It brought back so many memories of when I tooK Jared to the emergency room for stitches or broken bones. Preston sounds like he was a real tropper about the whole thing....but then again so was his dad. I hope you don't have to many more of those trips to the ER.
So what is the vermillion border?
Since Jared has yet to explain the vermillion border...its the top edge of the lip. We didn't want his lip line to be skeewampus:)
WOW! YOUCH! I bet that scared the heck out of you guys! Poor little guy! I am glad to hear he is doing better though!
Also, how is boy #3? We would love to see pics of little Cordell!
Poor guy. He still looks handsome as ever in his graduation pictures swollen lip and all.
Hey Girl!
How are you? We need to chat on the phone! When is a good time to call? I had minor surgery on Thursday and my mom has come to be my magic fairy that takes care of everything while I recuperate. I defintely have some more time on my hands. I want to hear about your new little one. Are you in a groove yet? It is amazing how long it takes...but we all know they get there :) Miss ya! Becca
P.S. This really looks like it hurt. Poor little guy...hopefully it won't be happening a lot with 3 little boys in your family (I guess that is what I have too...add one girl :))
